Chapter Fifteen

Brizio

This shit was getting creepy even for me. Watching a woman sleep.

What the fuck?

The stillness in which Maya slept allowed a childlike innocence to overshadow her tough persona, and her beauty blossomed into a surreal image that drew me in and held me hostage. I couldn’t look away. Even her mouth, that I’d never seen unmoving, had finally settled into a relaxed position.

My top teeth sank into my bottom lip and I twisted it to wipe away the smile that surfaced at the idea of our non-physical battles. I loved the shit talking and insults we traded. She was a loud-mouthed vixen, my loud-mouth.

Since my customary two to three hours of sleep had come and gone, I remained in an edgy state. My body was drawn to the bed, but my mind roared like a freight train. I leaned in slowly, unable to resist kissing little Miss Sassy.

Did she have any idea I was becoming obsessed with her ass? It had to be an obsession. I didn’t know what else to call it. She had grown on me, so much so, I wanted her and not just sexually either. I reached out and stroked the outline of her beautiful face.

It was best to be truthful with myself in this situation. The same bug that bit Primo had flown its busy-body ass in my direction and gotten me too.

My gaze outlined Maya's body under the covers before landing back on her face. I squinted, letting ideas I’d not say out loud flow freely. I was fascinated from the beginning, but she didn’t need to know it. Her ego rivaled mine and didn’t need any extra encouragement from me.

The first time I saw her, she’d snatched my attention so swiftly, I couldn’t resist going out to the dance floor to put my eyes on her versus spying through the cameras.

Okay, enough of this shit.

I had to make myself useful and figuring out how to get to the man who killed her brother was priority number one.

Reluctantly, I walked away, easing the door closed behind me, but not before taking one last lingering glance at who was sleeping in my bed.
